Organizing You

I was invited by a friend to go and listen to a fellow blogger who has authored the books Organizing You and Building Your House at a local church.  It was an awesome time of good food and fellowship.  Many times in life we need to clear up the clutter in our lives and let go so that we can let God do his thing.  It's ironic that I get to meet so many writers around town.

Mr Right... Mr Wrong...

Confound It!

You have to kiss a lot of frogs
so they say!
But frogs don't turn into princes,
or do they?

Sometimes you meet
what you think is Mr Right,
only to find out that
he was really Mr Wrong.

Confound it!
How can finding
love be so hard?
Because...

The odds are most guys
are married, taken, or gay...
Sometimes they tell you and sometimes
you find out the hard way.

So what's a girl to do?
When she's been pining
to fall in love with you?
Do you run or do you stay?

Forever or just for a day?
A moment lasts forever.
The memory always lingers.
A heart's desire.

This poem is dedicated to all my single gal pals!  Gals always dissect and bisect all the things guys do.  However we still have fun by meeting all of you!  No one wants to settle so don't settle unless you're with the one that was really meant for you!

Love is in the Air

Ruth & Boaz

Love is kind
not boastful
or proud.

Even coming
from a land
far away.

I lay
before you
on a threshing floor.

Hoping you
will do right
by me.

I glean
in your fields
while you provide.

For me
and my family
given by God.

I had
lost everything
and yet I came.

Not knowing
but knowing
this was meant to be.

For without our union
a genetic miracle
would never be.

A harlot
beget a son
and a foreigner
beget a king
who would be
king forever
and ever.

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

This poem was inspired by the book of Ruth.  Ruth has always been a favorite of mine because it is a love story and I like romances.  Especially those with a happy ending.

Dr John Townsend

Beyond Boundaries

Do you have good boundaries?  I think of boundaries as sort of like being a safe driver.  You either have good boundaries or you don't, meaning you are a safe driver or you are not.  The thing about boundaries is how not to get hurt by others who don't have good boundaries.

You can be the safest driver in the world but if the people around you are not safe drivers then you could seriously get hurt.  Don't you think?  Unfortunately not everyone has good boundaries.  So...

I recently have been attending a series based on Dr John Townsend's book Beyond Boundaries.  So either buy the book or borrow it from a library and find out for yourself how to have good boundaries.  Read on!

The Desirable Employee

Insurgent Not

Follow my rules.
Do what I say.
Say Yes!
Never say
No
to me!
Do you see?

If you fall
and break
something,
let it go.
Don't
make me
pay!

If you see
me do something
that you
don't think
agrees
with company policy.
Look the other way.

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

Each person has a character that is grounded in his or her own personal values.  What do you do when your manager has opposing values to yours?  Do you look the other way or do you report them?  What do you think makes for a desirable employee?  If you had to, would you stand up for your rights?  This poem makes me think of a manager I used to work for.  He would take our entire team into team meetings and tell us information but he also said that he would not back any of us up if we shared that information.  Guerilla tactics in the workplace?  Is that really necessary?

A Bully Tanka

Corporate Bully

The Firm is alive.
Finance is my game and I
want what I want.  Now!

See what I mean?  I will stop
at nothing to get what's mine.

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

Sometimes in life don't you come across a company that uses money to get what they want regardless of whether or not they have to play dirty to win?  I remember working for a company like this.  I would run into other ex-employees from the same company and I have heard so many horror stories.  Thank goodness I no longer work for them.

Micah

7:7

As for me, I look to the LORD for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me.

Sometimes do you find yourself making the same mistake over and over again?  In fact, isn't that the definition of insanity?  I thought about that recently because aren't there days when you could just kick yourself because you made a mistake of some sort?  Whether big or small?  I was reading in my devotion recently and I ironically ended up reading a passage about how God is able to make right our mistakes.  Granted it may take longer to correct but in the long run God takes our mistakes into consideration.  I found that to be comforting because God definitely knows we are all human.  "And ain't that the truth!"  :)

A Cold Tanka

Ah-choo!

The warmth lulls a person
until a bitter cold comes
and without thinking...

You sneeze and sniffle, sniff, sniff.
Oh for a nose that won't run!

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

With the change in seasons come the change in allergies, colds, and what not!  I can only hope that I get over mine quickly, although this one is hanging in a little longer than expected.

April Showers Haiku

The Wind Blows

No sooner does the
weather change and strong gales
cover us with rain!

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

And so it goes!  No sooner does March turn into April and all of a sudden the weather changes too!  Everybody I talk to is sniffling and coughing!  Hack!  Hack!  Me included!
