Lemonade

Hey Sourpuss!

I went about my world today
only to be handed some lemons!
"What's this?"  I cried...
"Why are you handing me lemons?"

"What do I do with all these lemons?"
Lemons are so sour
and you can't really eat them.
"Sourpuss!  Sourpuss!"

You can tell so easily
when someone's been eating lemons
by the way they walk, talk, and balk!
With a frowny-face!  Head down!

"Life is what you make of it!
It's up to you to take your lemons
and make some lemonade!"
So what are you thinking?

"That's right!
Time to make some lemonade!
Sip!  Sip!  Enjoy!"
"Yummy!"

Action!

Get Ready!

Are you ready
to say all your lines?
Don't flub!  Rehearse!

Hmmm...
What am I
supposed to say?

Uhhh...
How am I
supposed to say it?

Oops!
Did I somehow
forget to say it?

Ahh!
That's it!
You said it!

Lights!
Camera!
Action!

It's a go!
Let's do the
martini!

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

This poem is dedicated to the production cast and crew that I recently spent a day with out in the wilds of nowhere but very beautiful nonetheless!

Remember when...

You were a kid?

No more books
No more teachers
dirty looks..."

My gosh!  What a long time ago!  But I am looking forward to life getting a little less hectic.  Enjoy your upcoming weekend and hope you're enjoying your summer!

Giraffes Surprisingly

Stick out your tongue!

Large,
purple,
massive,
long...

Who knew?
I didn't...
Have you
ever seen?

A tongue
that belonged
to a giraffe?
Really!?!

I never
knew!
Now
I do!

Whoa!
To think
that that
comes out...

Of a tall
giraffe.
Hungry for
lettuce leaves!

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

An observation I made about giraffes while I watched them eat.  It's quite a shock seeing their tongue!

Just for fun!  Enjoy your morning!

Zoo Animals

Free Indeed

Ever been to a zoo
and the animals are
lethargic and bored
with nothing to do?

The elephants are blah!
Living up to their
shades of gray
with a trudge trudge...

The monkeys pretend
they don't see you.
They groom and they
preen for themselves.

How would you
feel if it was the
other way around?
With them watching you?

Now some animals
get space to roam free
and pretend
they're not far from home.

Because animals
matter to some
people who care.
Welcome Home!

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

I went to the zoo recently and discovered a new exhibit that let's the animals roam and run.  It was the coolest thing to see.  Sometimes it's sad seeing animals with no elbow room.

Rainy Day Haiku

Drip, Drip...

Let's do something fun!
Oh no!  It's gray and cloudy!
The irony no?

Why not?  A short haiku to emulate the feelings of looking forward to a fun day only to have rain come pouring down on you!

Pizza! Pizza!

Yummy-Yo!

Mmmm...
Do you taste?
Steaming...
Piping hot?
That goopy cheese
stretching all over
from your fingers
to your mouth?
And the spicy
pepperoni at just
the right temperature
in polka-dots
across you pizza?
Mmmm...
Who created something
so good like pizza?
Maybe he or she should
win the Nobel prize.
Peace of pizza!
I like that idea!

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

Yummy!  Guess what I ate for lunch today.  Piping hot pizza!  Yummy!

Memories

The Lost Can Be Found

What have you lost?
What have you found?
During your life travels
around the world and back.

Does your mind wander
and go over yesteryear
thinking why did I do that?
Or what did I do?

Or do you think back
and smile
thinking
I wouldn't change a thing...

Because if it wasn't for
these happenings.
I wouldn't be
who I am today!

There's something to be said
for character building
and tough times
gotten through!

You especially value
the best of your friends
and family members who
stick by you.

Especially when you need them the most.
Otherwise it's time to say
Good-bye!
I never knew you then!

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

I stopped at the library tonight to say "Hi!" to another writing group that I found a while back.  It was good seeing everyone.  I must say, since I decided to hoof it and take two intensive summer classes during a shorter semester, it has definitely put a crimp in my social activities.  However I do see a light coming up soon!  Lots to catch up on!  And work has been busy too!

Heaven vs. Hell

Good vs. Evil...

If there is one, is there not the other?  You can't believe in one and not the other, can you?  There are two books out:  Heaven is for Real is about a boy who has a out of body experience in heaven.  There are also books out by people who have had an experience in hell.  There is one called 23 Minutes in Hell.

It's interesting that not all people have the same near-death experiences:  Some see a white light and loved ones that have gone on before but some see a lake of fire.

Summer Haiku

Clouds

Clouds drift aimlessly
by overhead while I lay
in a cool blue pool.

Enjoy your summer days!  We are hitting mid-July...  Where have the days gone?

Writing Group

Such is life...

I met with my writing group this weekend and got to meet new writers.  I haven't been so much lately due to homework and life.  It happens.  It sowed some seeds of inspiration.  It takes a while to get back in the groove though.  I enjoyed meeting everyone and it's always neat to listen to other people read their stories.

Lee Greenwood

"Proud to be an American"

If tomorrow all the things were gone I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife.
I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away.

And I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

This is the beginning of my most favorite patriotic song...  Hope I will always be able to say this!

Popcorn Pops

Snap, crackle, pop!

Fireworks, fireworks,
snap, crackle, pop!
A boom here...
A boom there!
What's going on?
Independence day
is coming up!
Boom, boom,
chicka boom...
Hope you have
some fun!
Eat lots of food
and roll yourself
to a fireworks Wow!

A holiday poem just for fun!  Enjoy the holidays!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

I love these books!

I especially get a kick out of all the drawings!  I know I'm an adult and not longer a kid but I still love these books.  They are fun to read and look at!  Kudos to the author and illustrator.  If you have an older brother that picks on you, this would be a fun read!  There are movies too!
