Memorial Day Haiku

The Remembrance

The remembrance of
a memory so dear that
tears fall slowly down.

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

This simple haiku was inspired by the memory of lives long past that once walked upon the earth and shared their lives with us.  Today is a thought-provoking holiday and usually spent with loved ones visiting loved ones.

Hebrews

6:19

This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil,

I love sailing and the word anchor has significant meaning for me because without an anchor we are cast adrift.  Everyone needs a firm foundation because without it you would have nothing to stand on.

Making the Courage Connection

How often do you ask for courage?  Sometimes?  Not a lot?  If you think about it, most people like to play it safe.  People are less likely to seek courage as to hope they have courage when they truly need it.  This book is about people who have exhibited courage.  I was reading the introduction for this book and was surprised that this author encouraged people to live their dreams too!

Gavin de Becker

The Gift of Fear

Footsteps follow you around and around...  Your instincts warn you to be cautious...  careful...  The feeling that you feel is meant to warn you.  It is something inside of you that is alerting you to danger.

Have you ever felt this way?  Then trust your instincts.  Gavin de Becker wrote this book to give you insight into staying out of harm's way.

Divine Union:  Decrees for a Heavenly Marriage

I was recently having dinner with an author friend of mine and we got to talking about guys.  I mean what else do girls talk about when getting together?  Just kidding!  We do have conversations about other topics however she recommended this book to me about marriages made in heaven.  I once spoke to a pastor about the types of marriages people have and he told me about three types of marriages:  the Four-Walled Hell, the Status Quo, and a Slice of Heaven on Earth.  Now really if you had to choose, wouldn't it be a slice of heaven on earth?

Sabotage

No Fair Fight

Envy...
Jealousy...
Greed...
Hate...
Emotions
that drive us
to do things
we would
never do
otherwise.

Fighting dirty
is what
some know
but others
rise above
petty
behavior
because if a fight
is won fairly
then it was
a good fight
but if not
then deep down
you will always know
what you did.

Coward!

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

Sometimes in life you come across behavior that is very unfair and petty.  Why?  Because we are human.  Some people have the ability to help others and wish them the best and others only wish to do others harm or keep them from succeeding.  However, as we all know, what goes around comes around and you do reap what you sow, usually more than you sow and later than you sow.

Identity Crisis! I Don't Know Who I Am!

Be Yourself!

We live in an age
so technologically advanced,
where we can change
anything
we want to change.

We do so for beauty
and for the fountain of youth
but sometimes
we change something
more drastic.

Do you not like
your eye color?
Your skin color?
Your gender?
Your genes?

Is it because
of peer pressure
or is it because
you don't like
yourself?

You were uniquely designed
from anyone else
 to be who
you were
meant to be.

So be kind
to yourself!
Like yourself!
Love yourself!
And in turn love others!

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

Self-hatred can make you do all sorts of things like mutilating yourself and thinking you deserve to be treated a certain way.  Find the truth and the truth will set you free.

Edelweiss

Edelweiss...
Edelweiss...
Every morning you greet me
Small and white, clean and bright
You look happy to meet me
Blossom of snow
May you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever...

Edelweiss...
Edelweiss...

Remember this song from the movie Sound of Music?  In the movie this song was sung to say good-bye to the end of an era.  War was coming and as we all know war changes things.  Always!  We are never the same afterwards.
