George Edward Woodberry

"Defeat is not the worst of failures. Not to have tried is the true failure."

Don't you agree with this poet?  I feel that he is right on the mark because if you never try then you will never know what you are truly capable of.  How many people fail but keep trying anyway?  Do you know how many times Abraham Lincoln failed before he became president?  Keep trying and don't ever give up!

Henry Vaughn

A Great Ring of Pure and Endless Light

This book is a compilation of different poems written by Henry Vaughn.  I had actually written this poem in my diary years ago when I was in high school.  I read the poem again last night.  I had actually forgotten about it.  It makes you think of dazzling lights and stars so bright.  And so begins the poem, "I saw Eternity the other night Like a great Ring of pure and endless light."

Thomas Horn & Cris Putnam

The Final Roman Emperor

I have been to as many Catholic weddings in my lifetime as well Protestant and a couple Jewish here and there.  What I remember most about Catholic churches is the amount of sitting, standing, and kneeling you have to do.  Plus I remember a Catholic funeral I went to for a college friend's spouse.

I heard about this book on the radio.  It has a lot of information on end time events.  If you're looking for something suspenseful to read, this may be the book.  A book intrigue, you might say...

In the Fields

In the Quiet

I sit quietly
among the green,
the crickets
and the fields.

Time slows down.
So slow
as I sit
and just be.

With the wind
and the sun
and the nature
surrounding me.

I see the sunset
fading into dusk.
I see the wind
playing among the leaves.

I feel most of all
the quiet,
the being,
the absence of talk.

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

This poem was inspired by a moment of quiet on the brink of the woods.  I am surrounded by my peers but no one is talking.  All is quiet as we share this moment apart but together in experience.  We are all so hurry scurry but do we really slow down enough to really listen?  Try it.

A Father's Love

I am Dad

A man becomes a Father
when he has a child.

He becomes a Dad
when his child calls him so.

A Father is called
to discipline, love, and protect.

A child trusts
the Father and the Dad!

Don't let your child down.
But bring him up
to love, trust, and obey.

For deep inside you know
that you were meant
to emulate the True Father.
From up Above.

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

This poem was inspired by and for all Dads.  It's your day so Celebrate!  Happy Father's Day!

Kara Tippetts

The Hardest Peace

Are you struggling?  We all struggle from time to time...  Sometimes with little things, sometimes with big things...  Like battling cancer, which is what Kara Tippetts had to do.  Sometimes the life we're given to live is not easy but it's up to you to live the life you're given the way you want to.  You have the choice to do something great with your life or not...  Because no matter who you are you will impact the lives of those around you.

Franklin D Roosevelt

“A war of ideas can no more be won without books than a naval war can be won without ships. Books, like ships, have the toughest armor, the longest cruising range, and mount the most powerful guns.”

Books are my passion and my most valued possessions because I love reading and learning new things on a continual basis.  I have my own library of books.  Do you love to read?  Why not send yourself on your own adventure?

Bagel Haiku

Bagel Daze

A simple circle
with a centered middle hole
spread with schmear or not.

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

Sometimes I am in the mood for just a bagel, toasted with butter.  Sometimes I'll ask for schmear.  I think bagels are comfort foods, best when you need comforting or easy to eat on the run.  I remember working for a company that used to have a bagel lady come around so you could have one for breakfast.  Yum!

Norman Vincent Peale

The Power of Positive Thinking

Sometimes in life you have to make a courage connection so exactly how do you find courage?  Think back on when you were a small child and your Dad or Mom was holding your hand while you did something.  Didn't that connection give you courage?  Surround yourself with people that give you courage because it's either that or surround yourself with foolish people and see where that gets you.  Check out this author's book to see where he got his courage connection from.
