White Chocolate Moments

Are there moments in your life that you think of as special?  Why?  What made them special?  Do you associate those memories with something tangible like white chocolate?  Even now you can think back on a flood of memories just by tasting a bite.  This book is a favorite of mine because in some ways the main character reminds me of myself especially in regards to her personality and how she deals with specific situations and people.

North & South

The Great Divide

A mighty nation
crumbles
before our very eyes
as the world watches on
and waits
for the inevitable
to happen.

For a nation
divided
won't stand
very long.

The media
only making
the problem
worse
by showing examples
of strife and discord
instead of a united front.

Political parties
butting heads
amongst our nation.
Are we not
one county?
United we stand,
divided we fall.

One day
we all
fall down.
Just like
in days gone by.
Brother against brother...
Father against son...

Are you a sore loser
or are you
going to rise above?
Do you care
that our nation
is going down the drain
and that you are
making it happen?
Letting it happen?

United we stand,
divided we fall.
Are you not my brother?
Are you not my friend?
Will you kill your mother?
Simply because your
political party didn't win?

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

One wonders in this day and age if people realize what is at stake?  Are we airing out dirty laundry for all the world to see?  When other countries see us what do they think?  What must they think of us?  One nation under God?  How can a brother hate another brother over politics and religion?  Would you not lay down your life for someone you love?  But yet you can hate them for what they believe in?

Abraham Lincoln was a Republican and the if it wasn't for him, slavery would still exist.  Would you rather that we lived in a land where slavery did exist?  I am not a political person and I have no formal political ties but yet even I can see what this is doing to our country.  Would your rather that our enemies come in and take our country over?  Do you realize what a privilege it is to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave?  Do you even realize what we have that other countries do not?  This country is by no means perfect but there is a lot that we take for granted...

United We Stand, Divided We Fall...  And We All Fall Down...
United We Stand, Divided We Fall...  And We All Fall Down...
United We Stand, Divided We Fall...  And We All Fall Down...

The Gift

Are you looking for a book easy enough for a child to understand?  Children are growing up alarmingly fast these days.  In fact, some are like little adults and acting like them too.  It's never too early to begin teaching important and life-changing concepts to them.  So begin with a gift...

Breathe & Bloom

Gloria M

Looking Within...

Strength Within Fragility

I see you on the outside
not letting anyone in...

I wonder why?

What have you gone through?

What have you seen?

Who has hurt you?

Why you?

The facade you place
before the world
beckons to be torn
aside.
The mask you wear
hides an inner
struggle of a faraway
pain.
Something you
had no control over.
Something that
caused you shame.
But inner healing
has begun.
And your metamorphosis
is in progress
and one day
you will breathe
and see colors again.

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poetry

This poem is dedicated to a friend who has gone though a journey that I can not begin to comprehend.  She is not the only one unfortunately.  In fact I have other friends who have gone through a similar journey.  There are many ways to heal and overcome circumstances that were not meant to be yours to begin with.  May God wrap you in his ever loving arms for the rest of your life and keep you safe from harm.

"Show Me Who Your Friends Are and I'll Show You Who You Are"

Do you ever think about the friends you hang around with and the power they have to influence you to do your best or to do your worst?  I kid you not but the people who you hang around with will either bring out the best or the worst in you.  The rule of thumb is that you are the average of the five friends you spend the most time with.  Because people being who they are they react differently to each other.  Each person you hang out with will bring out different aspects of your personality and character.

Over the years I've introduced friends to each other and what I hear from pretty much all of them is that I have the nicest friends.  That makes my heart glad because it tells me that I have a knack for picking really good people to be friends with.  On the other hand every so often I will make a friend that has some questionable friends which makes me wonder sometimes...  It makes you look at them a little differently, doesn't it.  So be of good cheer, courage, and character because this year is going to be a challenge.  :)

March Winds

Windy Path of Life

Whoosh!
Whirling leaves
scatter all around
like our lives
as we flit
to an fro
on a whim,
an irony,
a matter of fact.
Breezes blow
our scarves dance.
Our lives play out
every day
with happenings.
Strong winds,
gentle breezes.
Some good,
some bad,
some mundane,
and every once
in a while
like a tornado.

@JoSH Poetic Popcorn Poet

Remember Mary Poppins?  She just shows up as if flying upon a wind.  Our lives play out everyday and every minute of every day.  What do you think of the choices you make?  We get thrown the good, the bad, and the ugly and we have to cope, go through it, deal with it.  How are you doing?  Is your life going well?  Hang in there!  Experience joy and sorrow, relaxation and pain, happiness and sadness, anger and calm...  You are alive...  Let God be God and learn to trust and believe.  Have faith...

Mike Myers

Canada

You can't think of Canada without thinking Niagara Falls.  I remember my trips there as a child.  My Dad was very fond of traveling and especially to Niagara Falls.  We also made it a point to visit cousins in Vancouver.  I have also met some Canadians over the years and find them to be interesting and pretty down to earth.  They're my kind of people.  I didn't realize that Mike Myers was Canadian until recently.  Oh Canada!
