Nehemiah

Rebuilding Walls


Brick by brick.
Stone by stone.
Side by side.
Everything takes time.
For Rome wasn't
built in a day.
And neither was Jerusalem.

Sometimes life
can drag you down,
slow you down,
shut you down.
But don't give up
and don't quit trying.
Because...

Sometimes...
it takes baby steps
to get the job done.
And sometimes
you don't realize
that others are helping you
rebuild the wall.

Nehemiah is a book that I really didn't know much about until I started finding out more about B.R.E.A.D. and listening to messages regarding this passage on the radio.  It's amazing what people can do when they are willing to help each other out.

A New Song of New Similies


My passion is as mustard strong;
I sit all sober sad;
Drunk as a piper all day long,
Or like a March-hare mad.

Round as a hoop the bumpers flow;
I drink, yet can't forget her;
For, though as drunk as David's sow,
I love her still the better.

Pert as a pear-monger I'd be,
If Molly were but kind;
Cool as a cucumber could see
The rest of womankind. 

These are just a few stanzas from this poet's poem about a woman he adored.  Unfortunately just because you like someone doesn't mean he/she is going to like you back.  Unrequited love is tragic and therefore a better story line as opposed to happily ever after.  However we all probably would opt for the fairy tale if we had a choice.

Here's to friends!  Where would I be without my friends?  Friends who have stuck by me and supported me through thick and thin...  Friends who have encouraged me to live my dreams...  I make new friends everyday but I also have so many awesome friends that I've made over the years.  Difficult times are not easy to go through, but I tell you what...  that is when you find out who your true friends really are.  Thanks for being a friend!  :)

Ever come across a so-called friend in your life that is always trying to manipulate you and lies to you?  I had a friend like that once.  She would tell me who I should go out with and when I would ask her about something she had told me before she would deny ever saying it.  "Shaking my head!"  "Really?"  And she wonders why I no longer want to be her friend?  Read this book.  It gives great insight into some truly inept minds.

Being Quiet


Just a little bit
of quiet
is all I ever want.

But this happens,
and that happens,
and quiet's not what I get.

Life is always
busy
and fast-paced.

Going to and fro.
Always going,
going, gone.

In an instant
life can pass
you by.

Unless you
learn to live
in the moment.

So...  live in the moment!

Be still.

Be quiet.

Soak in it!

Forefathers

Why do we celebrate today?  We wouldn't be if it weren't for a document called the Declaration of Independence.  This document changed history.  This document is how we became a nation.  It represents a birth and a separation.  Very much like a baby when the baby grows up and moves away from his parents.  The ties are still there but the baby has gained independence to live his/her own life.

I chose this particular poem in honor of Independence Day because this poet and I have some things in common.  Sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side.  For people who were not born in this country but are naturalized citizens, I think depending on where you came from, you had to make a choice to come here, to be here.  However that being said changes happen to countries.  And not always for the good.  Makes you think...
