Ode to Happiness

What is happiness?  Can you be truly happy?  Not always.  At least not in this fallen world where tragedy happens everyday.  Sometimes only those that have truly lived through a broken heart can understand sorrow.  I had my heart broken years ago and ironically enough I think it made me a better person.  It may have even kept me humble.

I know they say "better to have loved and lost" but really no one wants to lose love once they find it.  When you find true love then you want it to last a lifetime.

I don't know.  Too much on my mind but too tired to really decipher what is going on. Life is too dramatic.  Sometimes life resembles a soap opera and sometimes it doesn't.  Life in the soaps would be too bubbly for me.  Have a good night!  :)

Frenemy

You say
you are my friend
and yet
behind my back you go
to say things
true friends wouldn't
say to others.

True friendship
is caring,
careful,
considerate,
and honest.
Would never knowingly
hurt you.

Yet
you lie to me
to my face
and do your best
to manipulate me
into doing what
you want me to do.

You don't care
that you hurt
others by the very things
you say about them
when they are not around.
Because your only agenda
is You!

Some friendships last for a lifetime and some friendships last for a season.  You know it's time to end a friendship when the friendship has the capability of hurting you.  When the friendship doesn't edify you or bring you joy.  When the friend lies to you and tries to manipulate you according to their personal agenda.  

Let them go.  

However easier said then done.  It's ironic that you can decide to end a friendship due to a friend's harmful treatment of you and yet that friend still has the nerve to get mad at you and won't let go.  

You want to say to that ex-friend, "Think about the big beam in your eye compared to the little sticks in those around you."  A true friend will want what's best for you and not the worst.  Get lost my enemy not my friend!

This is a well known passage.  Did you ever think of yourself as a sheep?  Are you a lost sheep?  Or do you know who your shepherd is?  Baa!  Baa!

Do you have talents?  Do you use them?  What if you had untapped talent that you never used?  How would you feel at the end of your life?  I remember thinking that I was wasting the talents that God had given me at one point in my life, however due to some unforeseen circumstances that happened later in my life, I was finally able to go after those talents.
