The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from the evil one.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever. 

Amen.

This prayer was given by Jesus to his disciples to show them how to pray.  Most people have this memorized by heart.  First comes reverence, then a submission to his will, food for survival, forgiveness, protection from temptations and evil, acknowledgement of whose kingdom we live in.

Divine Union:  Decrees for a Heavenly Marriage

I was recently having dinner with an author friend of mine and we got to talking about guys.  I mean what else do girls talk about when getting together?  Just kidding!  We do have conversations about other topics however she recommended this book to me about marriages made in heaven.  I once spoke to a pastor about the types of marriages people have and he told me about three types of marriages:  the Four-Walled Hell, the Status Quo, and a Slice of Heaven on Earth.  Now really if you had to choose, wouldn't it be a slice of heaven on earth?

If there is one, is there not the other?  You can't believe in one and not the other, can you?  There are two books out:  Heaven is for Real is about a boy who has a out of body experience in heaven.  There are also books out by people who have had an experience in hell.  There is one called 23 Minutes in Hell.  

It's interesting that not all people have the same near-death experiences:  Some see a white light and loved ones that have gone on before but some see a lake of fire.

Heaven and hell...  Two things that some people don't want to think about but what if heaven is for real and hell is for real?  Where do you think you will end up?  It's going to be one or the other, don't you think?  Dr. Gary Frazier wrote a book about hell for that exact reason.  Think about it.  If good and evil exist in this present world then what makes sense?

People believe what they want to believe however when you get to a point of self-actualization then there is less focus on the biological needs that we have...  You do realize that in heaven there is no marriage...  That being said if you enjoy certain aspects of marriage then you'd better get on with it...  If you get my drift...

To Serve

A servant's life
is not glamorous
nor a piece of cake.
Serving is giving
from the bottom
of our hearts.
To help
the helpless
and protect
the unprotected.
A son came down
from heaven
to serve
and not
to be served.

because why did a king

Why be a servant

Sometimes in life things don't make sense.  If you live a life of ease and leisure you forget what it's like to be human.  All work and no play makes "Jack" a dull boy but all play and no work is worse I think.  Sometimes you have to balance the best in your life by giving back as a servant:  To serve...  Where do you serve?  A child is brought up by his parents and they in turn someday will turn to their child and hope to receive parenting back from them because the circle of life is cyclical.  You end where you began.  And then you have eternity.  What you decide in this life has consequence.  You choose heaven or hell.  No one does it for you.  Only you!  You decide!

I remember watching Ghost one summer in Michigan.  What a tearjerker.  Good versus evil runs rampant as a common theme throughout our movies.  You either see a white light and get taken into heaven or you see dark demons that drag you into hell according to this movie.

I was at a funeral today for a friend's Dad.  He lived a full life and leaves a living legacy made up of a wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  It made me think of my own Dad that passed.  I miss him.  I miss my Mom too.

Being single, being married...  Being single, being married...  How you live this life is a choice...  You have a choice to be married or to stay single...  Depending on the season of your life you may do both...  However considering what is out there in the world today be utterly cautious...  If you knew you were going to end up with a nutcase then marriage will become your worse nightmare but if you don't take the risk you may miss out on a slice of heaven on earth...  It's hard to know...  Know what I mean?

Sometimes we do something that pleases God and then again we do something that infuriates him...  Could you imagine living in the city where you know who resides?  Do you think it would be harder to live a life that is pleasing with the tempter in close confines?

 Do you get it yet?  Are you going to miss the rapture?  You might...  So easily...  Is the light bulb in your head beginning to light up?  If you are not awake yet, are you waking up?  Are you a sucker for punishment?  Guess what?  Many are going to be left behind...

There are so many people that want money and power but these are meaningless when it comes to eternity...  You wonder what some think when they think of all they have...  I have come to realize that money is a necessary evil but I live one day at a time and let God do his thing...  A simpler way of life that gives me what I need from day to day...  My goal is to get rid of more stuff...  When I leave this earth some day I want what I have on this earth to be minimal...

Have you heard this song before?  Sometimes song lyrics remind me of prose poetry.  This song was written by Matthew West.  It's a song that makes you sit up and take notice.  Rather than sit and wait around for God to do something, why not take action yourself?  It's like Esther's story in the Bible.  If she hadn't stood up for her beliefs then she would have died and maybe that's why she was chosen to be Xerxes Queen.  Hers is an interesting story and is told in One Night with the King.

Temptation

I have heard it said that if the devil can't tempt you he will keep you busy!  How many people do you know that are very busy?  We live in a busy world, don't we?  But are you too busy for God?  

Do you mindlessly play video games or watch a bunch of junk on TV?  Yes, we all have our guilty pleasures but where do your priorities lie?  

Will you miss heaven due to one too many TV show?
